Thackray Burgess is dedicated to providing legal services and advice to the energy sector. As a "legal boutique" we enable businesses to select the most appropriate legal counsel to meet their particular requirements.

OUR TEAM
The Thackray Burgess team has provided a wide array of legal services to the energy sector for over a decade. Thackray Burgess was formed on January 1, 2001 by the merger of Blain & Company, established in 1991, and Evans Higa Burgess, formed in 1997. After practising for many years with large, established law firms, the lawyers of Thackray Burgess came together through their shared approach of practicing law in a different way:

implementing a systems approach to the delivery of many legal services

providing specialized training to lawyers and support staff

developing industry standard legal precedents, forms and tools for the energy sector

developing industry specific information databases housing the firm's collective expertise

In adapting to meet the requirements of our clients, we have also incorporated our own personal values and priorities in building a firm we are proud to be part of. We have assembled a team of experienced lawyers and specially trained support staff who share our commitment to a progressive, constantly innovative legal practice.

PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S ADVISORY GROUP
We extend our progressive and innovative approach to developing internal interest groups. For example, in November 2006 we responded to the opportunity to engage and support women within our firm and our industry, by forming the Professional Women's Advisory Group. The primary focus of the group is to advise Thackray Burgess on implementing effective programs that help women succeed within the firm and within the industry.

EDUCATION
Committed to educating the energy industry, our lawyers are advisors to, and members of professional groups as well as writers and instructors at seminars and educational institutions. Through the electronic distribution of our weekly Alerts & Updates bulletins, we share our knowledge on emerging issues, legislative and regulatory developments and judicial decisions which have business and legal ramifications for the energy industry. As a result, our impact as a legal services provider to the energy industry belies our relatively modest size of just over 40 lawyers.
